Who we are
Big Block Exchange ("we", "us", "our") buys genuine, loose LEGO® DUPLO® by weight from sellers across the UK. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use our website, why we collect it, and what your rights are. Contact us at hello@bigblockexchange.co.uk with any questions.
What we collect
- Your email address — so we can send your confirmed offer, respond to enquiries, and follow up on saved baskets you haven't submitted yet.
- Submission details — the weight and estimated offer for the Duplo you're selling.
- Photos — if you choose to add one, to help us confirm your offer faster.
- Basic browser storage — we use your browser's local storage to remember your basket between page loads. This stays on your device and isn't sent to us until you submit.
We don't ask for or store payment card details, passwords, or any government ID.
How we use it
- To process your submission and calculate your offer
- To send you confirmation, offer, and payment-related emails
- To follow up if you've started a submission but not finished it
- To respond to questions sent to our contact email
Who we share it with
We use a small number of third-party services to run the site. Each only sees the data needed to do its job:
- Upstash — stores submission and basket data
- Resend — sends our transactional emails (offer confirmations, notifications)
- Netlify — hosts the site and stores any photos you upload
- Meta (Facebook) — if you accept the cookie banner, we use the Meta Pixel to understand which ads bring visitors to the site and to measure submissions. See "Cookies" below.
We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone for their own marketing purposes.
How long we keep it
We keep submission records for as long as reasonably needed to complete a transaction and for our own bookkeeping, after which older records are periodically deleted. You can ask us to delete your data sooner at any time — see "Your rights" below.
Cookies
We use strictly necessary browser storage to remember your basket — this doesn't require consent and stays on your device until you submit.
We also use the Meta Pixel, which sets cookies to help us understand which ads bring visitors to the site and to measure when someone completes a submission. This only loads if you click "Accept" on the cookie banner — if you click "Necessary only" or don't respond, it never loads and no advertising cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Ask us to delete your data
- Object to how we're using your data
To exercise any of these, email hello@bigblockexchange.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you're unhappy with how we've handled your data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site or our data practices change. The "last updated" date at the top will always reflect the latest version.
